— Honest overview

This is just
the beginning.

Boring Innovations is a solo project, built from scratch, launched with 104 tools and a lot of rough edges. No team. No investors. No safety net. Just a conviction that the world needs a brutally honest catalog of business tools.

Why I built this

The best business improvements are almost always boring. Not a rebrand. Not a viral campaign. A better invoicing tool. An automated expense report. A CRM your team will actually open on Monday morning.

These changes don't make headlines. They show up in the P&L.

I kept watching founders and managers spend weeks evaluating tools — reading reviews that were basically ads, clicking through "Top 10" lists that ranked tools by affiliate commission, not by usefulness. I got frustrated enough to build something different.

So I built Boring Innovations. Every tool gets a real case study — not a vendor testimonial, a realistic scenario with actual numbers. Every listing is written by a human. The business model is disclosed upfront.

🤖

Built with AI. Decisions made by humans.

Yes — I use AI to help build, write, and iterate faster. But every tool that gets listed, every editorial call, and every judgment about what's actually worth your time is made by a person. AI is the shovel. The decisions are mine.

📊 Open books — Revenue

Boring Innovations earns through affiliate commissions. Here's exactly how much.

$0

March 2026$0
2026 goal: $1,000/mo$0 earned so far
0 of 104 affiliate links are currently active. The rest point to tool homepages while I complete registrations.
Running costs: domain (~$10/yr) + hosting (~$5/mo). No paid marketing. No employees.

🔧 What's still rough

I know the site isn't perfect. Here's an honest list of things I see and am working on:

  • 104 tools is a fraction of what this directory needs to be
  • Case studies are illustrative — working on sourcing verified real ones
  • 0 affiliate links are live yet — registrations in progress
  • No user accounts, ratings, or community features yet
  • Some layout details still need polish on smaller screens
  • No newsletter issues published yet — sign-up is live, first issue coming soon

What's coming

  • Boring Score — own metric for tool quality
  • ROI Calculator per tool

  • Comparison mode — pick 2–4 tools, compare side by side
  • 'Best for...' curated stacks for specific business types
  • User reviews and community ratings
  • Pricing change alerts

How you can support this

There's no "Buy me a coffee" button. The only thing that helps this project grow is usage. Here's what actually makes a difference:

1

Use the directory — and click through

When you visit a tool page and click 'Visit [Tool]', we earn a small affiliate commission if you sign up. It costs you nothing and keeps this project running.

2

Share it with one person

One founder or manager who'd find this useful. Word of mouth is the only marketing I can afford.

3

Submit a tool we're missing

Know a solid tool that should be here? The submission form takes 2 minutes.

4

Leave feedback

The green button in the bottom right. Tell me what's missing, what's broken, what category you need. I read every single response.

5

Subscribe to The Boring Brief

Bi-weekly newsletter — one boring business improvement per issue. Free forever. Sign up here →

6

Forward the newsletter to one person

When you get an issue and it's useful — send it to one founder or manager you know. That's the only growth channel I have.

Where this is going

The goal hasn't changed: the most complete, most trustworthy catalog of business software in existence. A resource that a manager in Iowa or a founder in Warsaw can open on a Monday morning and find exactly the tool they need.

No fluff. No affiliate-bait listicles. Just a directory that respects your time.

We're at 10.4% of the goal. The rest is ahead of us.
